The Philosopher’s Stone – Irrefutable proof of its existence
Gérard Anaclet Vincent Encausse (1865-1916), known as Papus, was a French physician and occultist, co-founder of the Martinist Order with Augustin Chaboseau.
His essay “The Philosopher’s Stone – Irrefutable Proof of its Existence”, published in Paris in 1889, is still considered an essential classic for all alchemy enthusiasts.
REVIEW QUOTES:
“A book, indeed curious, that you must have in your library if you are passionate about the occult sciences and esotericism.” – DMMA’s Reviews – Amazon.com
“The subtitle “Irrefutable Proofs of Its Existence” is misleading because Papus does not provide the slightest proof since he merely mentions characters like Claude-Adrien (and not Jean-Frédéric) Schweitzer, or even someone named Bérigard of Pisa and Jean-Baptiste Van Helmont, who all claimed in writings to have had the Philosophical Stone in their hands and its ability to effectively turn lead into gold. But they are by no means direct testimonies and therefore not very credible. To conclude, you should know that today it would be possible to change lead into gold, but for that you would have to use a particle accelerator like the one at CERN and that ten grams of gold produced would cost millions due to operating costs. Nevertheless, the Philosophical Stone remains a curiosity to read for fans of esotericism.” – Jean-Charles’ Reviews – Amazon.com
